Remove Programs To Save Hard Disk Drive Space

Programs Can Take Up Most Of Your Storage Space

Your computer might have an old game or some financial software that you don’t use anymore.  If one or more of these programs take up enough space on your computer, they may affect the performance or capability of your system. Consider removing these unused programs to regain precious disk space.

Hard Drive Platters And NeedleSome of your unwanted programs will already have an uninstall file included. To find out, just check under the START menu and then PROGRAMS, where you can look through the listing. If none is listed, you can still remove the program by going to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL and finally clicking on ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS. A box will open, listing the programs that are available to be removed.  Find the program(s) you are interested in deleting and highlight each by clicking on it with your mouse.

Then, all you have to do is click on the ADD/REMOVE button to finish the process. A final box should come up to ask if you are sure you want to remove the program … just go along with it and click on the YES button.

What To Do If I Am Not Sure Which Programs Are Safe To Remove

Great question, write down the name of the programs you are not sure about and then exit the ADD/REMOVE screen. Now, go ahead and find those programs in your START menu and open them up. What do they do, have you ever used it before…does it even work as there may be files missing? If you have no clue what the software does, odds are it was pre-installed when you  bought your computer and can be safely deleted. If you are just not sure what to do, I suggest leaving it installed and then going on the Google to search the name of the program and you should be able to figure out what it’s purpose is. Careful not to remove your printer software, camera software, anti virus, word processors and email programs.
