Everyone knows that you can go to Yahoo, Excite, Google and many other search engines to find what you are looking for. But few people know how to best use keywords to find what they are looking for. Basically, the more words you use, the more refined your search will be. For example, if you are searching for winter Olympic information, you would use these keywords: <winter olympics>. But, as you already know, these keywords will bring you Olympic information from all over the world and will not help much if you want to find out more about the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Narrow your search with additional keywords.
More Keywords Will Give You Better Search Results
The following words would yield a much better result, this time narrowing the search to Vancouver:
winter Olympics 2010
Refine the search even more by adding these words:
Vancouver winter Olympics schedule
Now you should be looking at results that show a good selection of websites specializing in covering the winter Olympics by featuring all the up-coming events with more information than you could possibly use. The same can be done for any search. You can even take it a step further and only bring back results for Whistler events like this:
Whistler Olympics
Note that I only needed to use two words in this case because the Olympics have never been held in Whistler until 2010 so I am certain that I don’t need all the extra keywords to get accurate results.
